Job Analysis of Human Resource Planning

Human resource (HR) planning is a very critical organizational function. Companies undertake it with the intent of maintaining apposite staffing levels across all of their functional departments.

The HR department and the company's top management work closely for this exercise.

  1. Function

    • This is an exercise in which the HR department aims to place the right numbers of employees with the right aptitudes and skills at the most appropriate positions at the most opportune time.

    Significance

    • The job analysis for HR planning is extremely important from the organizational and the HR points of view. When an organization is understaffed, it is not able to leverage on its fullest potential.

Overstaffed organizations end up paying salaries to unnecessary employees.

    Benefits

    • The company is able to take a stock of the present prevailing staffing positions in the company. The HR department then takes measures to shift some personnel from the overstaffed departments to the understaffed ones.

Also, whenever the organization has expansion plans, this exercise is very handy. The management is able to clearly understand how many additional personnel would be required in the future. The company is able to plan on how to recruit the additional employees and budget for their salaries.
