    • The Oxford dress shirt is so-called because it is made of Oxford cloth, a particular weave known for its basket-weave pattern which allows the cloth to breathe while still being durable. The cloth is machine washable and holds up well against the daily grind.

    • There are two types of the Oxford weave. The classic Oxford weave creates a a fine basket-weave look and a silky texture and luster. Pinpoint Oxford is lighter and smoother than the classic Oxford weave but still retains the breathability of the basket weave.

    History

    • Oxford cloth got its name from the famed university in Great Britain in the 19th century. The cloth was one of four made by a Scottish mill, each named after a famed university. The cloth was later used in polo uniforms because of its light, durable qualities.
