Wyoming Tax Rebate Information

Wyoming lightens the load on residents with tax rebates.

Aside from tax credits, a notable form of tax relief in Wyoming is its property tax rebate program. Since the state does not levy personal or corporate income taxes, property tax rebates remain a prominent feature in the state.

  1. Application

    • As of 2010, the property tax rebate program applies to elderly and disabled Wyoming residents and includes refunds on property taxes, utilities and sales/use taxes. Eligibility is partly determined by the applicant's social security number, designating either elderly or disabled status.

    Qualification

    • The Wyoming resident must have lived in Wyoming for at least five years prior to the tax year prior to applying for the rebate. The Wyoming Department of Revenue notes that residency means living in the state for more than half the year. However, consideration is given to those absent for military leave.

    Limitations

    • A Wyoming property tax rebate may not surpass one-half of the applicant's tax liability in the prior tax year, and may not surpass the median tax liability for the present year, relative to the applicant's county.
