Realty specialist training courses teach real estate regulatory guidelines.

Training courses help realty specialists understand the tools and techniques real estate investors use to buy, hold and sell residential and nonresidential properties. Trainees typically work for a realty company or in a financial firm's real estate investments department.

  1. Degree Requirements

    • A high school diploma or associate degree is sufficient for a realty specialist entry-level job. However, a bachelor's or master's degree is generally required for a senior position, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).

    Training Features

    • According to a 2010 BLS survey, a novice realty specialist receives on-the-job training. Employees usually require one or two years of experience and training with professionals, states O*Net OnLine. Realty specialists learn how to present purchase offers to sellers for consideration, coordinate property transactions, oversee the signing of financing agreements and disbursement of funds, and research economic trends to detect real estate investment opportunities.

    Licensing

    • BLS research indicates that realty specialists who pass a licensing exam and meet experience requirements generally have an edge in this field. The exam includes questions on basic real estate transactions and the laws related to the sale of property. After passing the exam, a realty specialist requires 60 to 90 hours of formal training and one to three years of experience to obtain a broker's license, according to the BLS.
