    • A wide variety of training classes enhance juvenile police officer job performance. Some of these classes include: juveniles with disabilities, gangs, media, handling of juveniles, human trafficking and mandatory reporting.

    Training Length

    • Training varies according to jurisdiction. In the state of Illinois, for example, juvenile police officer training lasts 32 hours or four days. The state of New York offers a yearly training course for five days. The federal government's training lasts 29 class days.

    Warning

    • Most juvenile police officer trainings require that the law enforcement officer already be a member of that particular jurisdiction or a companion locale. Interested persons may not attend but must seek this type of information elsewhere.
