Information on the Remington Mohawk 600 Rifle thumbnail
The Remington Mohawk 600 was a rifle designed for hunting.

Remington has been making firearms since 1816, and one of their more notable models was the Mohawk 600. Remington made about 100,000 of the unique-looking bolt-action Mohawk 600 rifles from 1972 through 1979.

  1. Features

    • The Remington Mohawk 600's most distinctive feature was its bolt handle. The bolt handle bent forward and then down in a "dog leg" shape, which placed the bolt handle in an easy-to-access location. The short, 18 1/2 inch barrel of the Mohawk 600 was also relatively uncommon.

    Calibers

    • Remington offered the Mohawk 600 rifle in four calibers: .222 Remington, .243 Winchester, 6mm Remington and .308 Winchester. These four cartridges could be used to hunt a wide variety of targets, from varmints to deer to other big game.

    Value

    • The Remington Mohawk 600 is a desirable rifle, because of its unique appearance and hunting usefulness. Rifles in excellent condition are commanding prices in the $1,000 range as of August, 2010.
