Acne & Pregnancy
Acne is a common occurrence during pregnancy, according to Baby Center. Treating acne during pregnancy is tougher than normal cases because there are fewer available safe drugs. In addition, acne can make unpredictable appearances.

Function
-
Women often get acne during pregnancy because they have high levels of hormones such as androgen, which increase the production of sebum oil in the sebaceous glands in the skin. Dead skin cells and bacteria caught in sebum oil cause acne.
Treatment
-
Normal acne patients can use prescription drugs, such as Retin-A, Tetracycline and Accutane to control acne, but these drugs are dangerous during pregnancy, according to the American Pregnancy Association.
-
Prevention/Solution
-
Instead of medication, pregnant women can stop acne by eating a healthy diet rich in fruits and vegetables, and cleaning their skin with soap and water twice a day, according to the Acne Resource Center. Also, pregnant woman can use an oil absorbing cloth when washing their face to help lift excess sebum oil.
