Learning Latin on the Internet can be useful in everyday situations.

The Latin language provides the foundation for many languages, while Roman culture and civilization have provided the background for much of Western civilization.

Types

There are several different versions of the Latin language that a student could study. Classical Latin was the language of the Roman civilization during the classical period. Biblical Latin, a form of Vulgar Latin, is a liturgical language used by the Catholic Church from the Dark Ages to the present.

Benefits

Resources to learn Latin on the Internet are plentiful, and much of it is free. There are numerous downloadable textbooks that have become public domain.
