As a result, job opportunities in the field of logistics are numerous and varied but salaries and job requirements vary greatly as well.

Consulting

Logistics professionals with post-secondary training, extensive knowledge in the field or both sometimes pursue careers in management consulting. Logistics consultants study clients' operations and make recommendations designed to help them reach their goals. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the mean annual wage for management consultants was $84,650 in 2009.

Warehousing and Storage Managers

Warehouse managers oversee facilities that store and deliver goods. Management positions may require a college degree in business administration with an emphasis in logistics or related experience in the field. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that the mean annual wage for transportation, storage and distribution managers was $79,830 in 2009.

Non-supervisory Workers

A diverse work force of laborers, clerks, and other support staff serve logistics managers. Subordinate positions like these require less training but also pay considerably less than their managerial counterparts. According to Bureau of Labor Statistics' figures, the mean annual salaries for industrial truck and tractor operators, laborers, clerks and order fillers were less than $31,000 in 2009.
