Skechers is an American footwear brand targeted at youths and sold in more than 100 countries worldwide. Skechers makes sneakers, sandals, boots and clogs.
Skechers are a casual shoe and will last a fair amount of time with normal wear and tear, but some models are not designed for extensive athletic activity.
In 2010, rhe “Shape-ups” were Skecher’s newest, most expensive shoe ($150), designed to help tone muscles in the legs, back and abdomen, as well as burn calories because of their unusual wedge shape. However, a 2010 study by the American Council on Exercise has called these claims into question, and suggests that while “toning” shoes may be comfortable, they do not help tone any better than standard athletic shoes.
Sales and Bargains
Skechers were priced between $40 and $100 on average in 2010, though online sites can offer rock-bottom prices. The official Skechers website features a “sale” section with reasonable prices.
Skechers are usually available in department stores, and the official Skechers website has a “store locator” feature that pulls up a list of retail stores.
