HVAC master training requires mechanical acumen.

A heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) master training course teaches attendants how to install and troubleshoot HVAC equipment in commercial and residential settings. The course also helps trainees understand HVAC technician duties.

  1. Academic Requirements

    • To fill an HVAC master technician vacancy, employers generally prefer applicants who have at least a high school diploma and relevant work experience, reports the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). Supervisors generally have an associate or bachelor's degree.

    Training Features

    • A 2010 BLS poll reveals that new HVAC master technicians usually receive practical training after hire. Employees generally require one or two years of preparation alongside experienced professionals, indicates O-Net OnLine. HVAC master technicians learn how to detect heating-cooling system malfunctions, use pressure gauges to test pipes or tubing joints, and test electrical circuits and components for continuity.

    Technology

    • According to O-Net OnLine, an HVAC master technician trainee becomes adept in tools and equipment such as turbine flow meters, noncontact voltage detectors, building automation software, bead type thermocouples and pipe clamp thermocouples.
