FBI Organizational Structure

The organizational structure of the FBI reflects a traditional hierarchical structure.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is a massive organization. The Office of the Director (OD) runs the FBI. The agencies reporting to this office includes the Director of Crimal Justice, Director of Counter-terrorism, Director of Law Enforcement and Direct of Administration.

Office of the Director (OD)

The Office of the Director (OD) is lead by the Chief of Staff. Subordinate to the Chief of Staff is several operational offices, including the Office of General Counsel and the Office of Public and Congressional Affairs.

Director of Criminal Investigations

The Director of Criminal Investigations reports to the OD. This director is responsible for managing and all conducting criminal investigations which fall under the jurisdiction of the FBI.

Director of Counter-terrorism

The Director of Counter-terrorism also reports to the OD. This director is responsible for coordinating all national counter-terrorism activities.

Director of Law Enforcement

The Director of Law of Enforcement, also under OD, is responsible for all law enforcement issues that fall under FBI jurisdiction.

Director of Administration

The Director of Administration falls under OD as well. The FBI services under this area include administrative services, finance division, information resources division and the security division.
