What Is the Dropper.VB.AUJ Trojan Horse?
A Trojan horse, named after the deceptive hollow horse in Greek mythology, is a string of malicious code concealed inside a legitimate software program. Trojan horses need a computer user's assistance to spread from system to system.

According to Symantec Corporation, maker of Norton security products, a "Trojan.Dropper" is a malware (malicious software) program that affects Windows operating systems. Its purpose is to "drop" malicious files onto the computer. Symantec goes on to state that a dropper Trojan, such as Dropper.VB.AUJ, is a Trojan used at the beginning of an infection, to assist other malware into the system.

Dropper Trojans are used to disguise and deliver other malware to an operating system. Appearing as legitimate programs, when executed, the code may initiate changes to the system registry from which it can then create pathways for other malware to enter the operating system.

Cisco Systems recommends keeping the operating system up to date as the first defense against malware. Major companies that produce the most widely used systems are constantly combating hackers and malware creators by patching their operating systems to ward off attacks. Personal security systems with antivirus protection is also a must to protect against an invasion of Dropper.VB.AUJ.
