The Used Law
-
Lemon laws in Arkansas do not protect all used cars in Arkansas. Not all used cars in Arkansas are protected by lemon laws. In order for a car to be protected, the odometer must have at least 24,000 miles on it. Any used car sold by a dealer within the first two years of the original purchase is also protected by the lemon law.
Repair Attempts
-
Cars that need numerous repairs are lemons. For a used car to be protected by the lemon law in Arkansas the owner must prove that defects prompted repeated repair attempts. If the same defect causes three repair attempts, the car is a lemon. Any defect that causes the car to be out of service for 30 days will also result in it being labeled a lemon.

Warning
-
Lemon laws do not protect used cars sold "as is." Car dealers in Arkansas who sell six or more cars within a year are required by law to post a Buyer's Guide sticker in the window, informing the purchaser if the car is being sold "as is." If the car is an "as is" car, then it is not protected by the lemon law, and the dealer is not liable for any repairs needed.
