What Are Self Build Modular Houses?
A self build modular house is a home composed of customizable sections, which are delivered to your site and put together by a builder without the need of an architect.
-
Definition
-
The National Modular Housing Council defines modular homes as houses that "are built in a factory as modules that meet the state or local building code where the home will be located." You can customize your modular home by selecting options from your manufacturer. When your modular home is delivered, the prebuilt frame, walls and floors are already assembled.
Controlled Environment
-
Your home can be completed in less time than a standard home because the building process is not put on hold for rain, wind or snow. Your home will also benefit from more than one inspection during the building process.
-
Features
-
Modular homes are available with the same features you will find in a traditionally built home. That means if you later want to change out the kitchen sink or expand a bedroom, you can.
Financing
-
Once you have your plot of land, you can finance your home in the same manner as a site-built home. Because the building codes and laws are the same, the mortgage industry treats both types of houses the same. Therefore the financing rules are the same.
