How to Buy a Mac PowerBook
According to Apple-History.com, Apple discontinued the Mac PowerBook in February 2006 to make way for a new generation of laptops with Intel processors. As of 2010, Apple sells only these Intel-based models. The only way to get a PowerBook is to buy one used.

Be aware of the PowerBook's maximum capabilities and be sure to check them against the requirements of the software you intend to run on the system. The PowerBook's maximum speed is 1.67 GHz; its total RAM capacity is 2 GB; and the type of RAM it uses is PC2-4200.

If possible, verify the PowerBook's specifications before purchasing. Do this by clicking the Apple menu in the upper left corner. Select "About this Mac," then "More Info." Choose "Hardware" to open the "System Profiler." According to Cnet, this allows you to confirm the processor speed, the amount of RAM and other key benchmarks.

Purchasing a used Powerbook online requires doing an Internet search to find a list of available products. This can be achieve by typing "PowerBook for sale" in a search engine. Because you may not be able to examine the computer beforehand, you should purchase only from a source you trust.
