Information on the IRS Stimulus Refund Deadline
In 2008, a stimulus payment was issued to qualified taxpayers, disabled veterans and retirees. According to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), more than 124 million households were eligible for the refund.

An individual who was not required to file a 2007 tax return, but was eligible for a stimulus payment, had to file one by October 15, 2008.
Amount

An individual was eligible for a $600 payment and married couples up to $1,200. A taxpayer with a qualifying child was also eligible for $300 per child. He received the above amounts or the amount of his 2007 net income tax liability, whichever was less.

Income Limit

Stimulus payments were gradually phased out for individuals with an adjusted gross income (AGI) of $75,000 or more, and $150,000 for a married couple. A taxpayer needed to have a minimum of $3,000 of qualifying income to receive a payment. If he did not have a net income tax liability, but met the above requirement, he was eligible for $300 (individual) or $600 (married).
