Many advertisements for cellulite lotions claim amazing results in the reduction or elimination of cellulite in the body. The ingredients in these lotions vary, depending on the manufacturer, but many brands include the antioxidant dimethylaminoethanol, niacin, caffeine and retinol.

According to Medical News Today, Dr. Lisa M. Donofrio, an assistant professor of dermatology at Yale University School of Medicine, states that there is no scientific evidence that these types of lotions or creams work, and she advises her patients that cellulite is normal. According to the Mayo Clinic, if a person does find a lotion that seems to help this condition, the results will most likely be short-lived.
