Dress for success.

Making a good impression in the workplace begins with personal appearance. Although strict dress codes have relaxed in recent years, there are still guidelines to be followed for both men and women.

  1. Men's Attire

    • A conservative business suit is the basis for a man's attire. The suit should be a dark color in pinstripe or solid. Men should wear white or blue long-sleeved shirts and silk ties with conservative patterns or stripes. Conservative lace-up shoes are preferable and should be clean and polished. The belt should match the shoes.

    Women's Attire

    • Women should also wear conservative suits with either skirts or pants. Skits should be knee length or slightly above or below the knee. Women should wear blouses or sweaters with appropriate necklines. Neutral or flesh-tone stockings should be worn with low-heeled conservative shoes.

    Jewelry

    • For men jewelry should be limited to a wristwatch, wedding band and possibly a college ring. Women should limit rings to one finger on each hand. Simple earrings or necklaces may be worn. Jewelry should not attract attention to itself.
