Many safe and effective dandruff treatments can be made at home.

Homemade treatments for dandruff can often treat, control and cure dandruff. Try using a home remedy for controlling dandruff rather than using commercial products that may contain harsher chemicals and be costly.

  1. Green Gram Powder

    • A very popular and effective home remedy for dandruff is to wash your hair twice a week with a mixture of 1/2 cup of curd and 2 tbsp. of green gram powder.

    Fennel Seeds

    • A paste made from fennel seeds may be used to treat dandruff. Soak 3 tbsp. of seeds overnight in water. The following morning, grind the seeds into a paste and then apply the paste to the scalp; after leaving the paste on the hair for 30 to 45 minutes, shampoo out.

    Cider Vinegar

    • Apple cider vinegar mixed with an equal quantity of water may be applied between shampoos to control dandruff. Apple cider vinegar may also be used as a hair rinse after regular shampooing to control dandruff.

    Two Eggs

    • A popular home remedy for dandruff is to apply an egg mixture of two beaten eggs and 2 tbsp. of water into the hair and onto the scalp. After 10 to 15 minutes, the egg mixture is washed off with lukewarm water.

    Aloe Vera

    • Treat dandruff by massaging aloe vera into the scalp for 10 to 15 minutes and leaving the aloe vera in the hair and on the scalp for an additional 10 minutes before washing out. After a few weeks, the dandruff should be diminished.
