How to Compare Children's Shoe Sizes to Women's Shoe Sizes

Convert children's sizes for small feet.

Small feet may need smaller shoes than what is available in the women's department. Some children's shoes may be an option for smaller women's size needs. Figure out your size conversion in U.S., U.K. and European sizes.

U.S. Sizes

In U.S. sizes a child's size is approximately two sizes smaller than a woman's size. If you wear a women's size 5 you would wear a child's size 3 or 3 1/2.

U.K. Sizes

The size difference between women's and children's shoe sizes in the U.K. is about one size, and there is one to one and a half size difference between U.S. women's and U.K. women's shoe sizes. According to the Brannock Device Company, if you have a U.S. size 5 women's shoe, you would wear approximately a size 2 1/2 in U.K. children's shoes.

Manufacturer Differences

Not all shoes are made the same. Sizes will vary along these approximations by a half size or whole size. Try a few different brands and styles to discover what size works best for your length and width.
