Screw Gun Safety

Keep children and other bystanders away while using a screw gun.

Screw guns, while an invaluable tool to professional and amateur contractors and handymen, come with some safety risks. Following safety precautions greatly reduces these risks. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Electrical Safety

    • Do not expose screw guns to rain or wet conditions, and always use an outdoor-rated extension cord when working outside. Do not pull, unplug or carry the screw gun by the cord, and don't modify the plug to fit an electrical outlet.

    Personal Safety

    • Do not use a screw gun while under the influence of alcohol or any medication that causes drowsiness. Keep hands away from the end of the screw gun, and wear safety glasses or goggles to reduce the risk of foreign objects entering your eyes. Don't wear loose-fitting clothing or jewelry. Make sure the screw gun is in the "off" position before plugging in, and make sure the chuck or key is removed from the end of the screw gun before operating. Always keep the screw gun away from children.

    Maintenance

    • Always check for damage before using your screw gun. If the screw gun is missing parts, binds during operation, overheats, or if the on/off switch is malfunctioning, do not use the screw gun. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions during use.
