Most major cities have well-known gay bars, restaurants and places, as Philip Gambone reports in his article, "The People I Met, Mostly in Cities." Gay bars create an environment where LGBT singles can mingle and meet new people. Spending time in places where a large population of LGBT persons go increases the chances of making connections with other gay people.

The Internet offers an easy way of connecting with other LGBT people through social networking sites, forums and chat-rooms. Tech Crunch published, "Eight Social Networking Sites for Men Who Love Men," which includes Lovetastic, Jake, Connexion and OutEverywhere. These sites and many others offer a place for LGBT persons to make social or dating connections.

The LGBT community frequently has "Pride" events and other gatherings. Joining the local LGBT rights group is a perfect way to meet new people and extend social networks. Many times these groups participate in events that attract LGBT from near and far, creating the opportunity to meet other members of the LGBT community.
