Mobile Compatibility for Google Maps

Google Maps is a web-based map program with directions, location search and more. You can access Google Maps from a computer's web browser or on supported mobile devices.

Supported Phones

Android and iPhone cell phones contain a Google Maps application. Other cell phones can access Google Map's mobile website, which supports Android, iPhone, BlackBerry, Windows Mobile, Symbian, Sony Ericsson and Nokia S60 phones. Older versions of some phones are not supported.

Carrier Limitations

Google Maps doesn't run on cell phones using the BREW marketplace. Some carriers also restrict Google Maps' data.

Location Detection

Older BlackBerry, Windows Mobile, Symbian, Motorola and Sony Ericsson phones don't support the "My Location" feature, which involves Google Maps getting your location from your cell phone's GPS. Certain carriers also deny access to a phone's GPS from Google Maps.

Google Latitude

Google Latitude is not supported in the Google Maps iPhone app; use the web version in the built-in Safari browser instead. Google Latitude is also not supported on older versions of some phones that can't run the newest version of Google Maps.

Navigation

Google Maps can give turn-by-turn navigation directions like a dedicated GPS device, but only on Android phones.
