The QuickTime Picture Viewer is a small application included with Apple's QuickTime software designed for opening and making basic changes to an image file.

    • QuickTime Picture Viewer allows users to view pictures at varying levels magnification and rotate images. The free version of QuickTime does not allow users to save any changes; only the QuickTime Pro version of Picture Viewer has an export option.

    Availability

    • Picture Viewer comes with all Windows versions of QuickTime software, and with some Mac versions. The current QuickTime included with Mac OS X has the features of Picture Viewer within the primary QuickTime Player application.

    Access

    • You can open Picture Viewer from the same directory as the QuickTime Player, using the "PictureViewer" launcher.

    Use

    • The QuickTime Picture Viewer supports many image file formats, including JPEG, BMP, PNG, GIF and TIFF. Less-common supported formats include Photoshop files, MacPaint images and QuickTime images. You can change the Picture Viewer's default file associations from within the QuickTime Player, using the "Images" section of the "File Types" tab in the "Preferences menu."
