Vista & Photoshop Compatibility

According to Adobe Systems Incorporated, they work closely with Microsoft Corporation to ensure Adobe products run smoothly on all Microsoft operating systems. Select versions of Adobe Photoshop were released after Vista (January 2007) and were designed to offer full compatibility with Vista.

  1. Creative Suite

    • The Photoshop software included in Creative Suite (CS) version 2 was not designed for Vista and can encounter compatibility issues. Photoshop software included in CS version 2.3 was not designed for Microsoft Vista, but installs and operates on the operating system with no compatibility issues. All subsequent versions of Photoshop, CS3 and above, were designed for full Vista compatibility.

    Photoshop Elements

    • Adobe released a software update for Photoshop Elements version 5.0.2 in 2007, which brought the software into full compatibility with Vista. All Photoshop Elements versions released after version 5.0.2 were designed for full compatibility with Vista.

    Photoshop Lightroom

    • Photoshop Lightroom version 1.0 was released before Microsoft Vista. Lightroom version 1.0 DVD and CD burning tools do not work on the Vista operating system. All Photoshop Lightroom versions released after version 1.0 were designed for compatibility with Microsoft Vista.

    Software Updates

    • Adobe often releases updates for its current software products when operating system compatibility problems are discovered and resolved. Photoshop users can find and download updates on the Adobe website.
