Aspire Visa Credit Card Information

Before applying for a credit card, read the fine print.

According to RewardsCards.com, the Aspire Visa card has been renamed the Tribute Mastercard Gold as of July 13, 2006. The Ask Mr. Credit Card website asserts that the Aspire card was discontinued because the company behind the credit card experienced trouble with the Federal Trade Commission over allegations of deceptive marketing techniques.

Function

Compucredit, the owners of the Aspire credit card, offer their credit cards to those with poor credit. Using the card responsibly can help to rebuild credit after a bankruptcy or other negative incident on your credit report.

Fees

The Aspire or Tribute card charges $150 each year for an annual fee, $6 each month for a maintenance fee and $29 for an account opening fee. The card offers a credit limit of $300, but the fees associated with the card decrease the available credit immediately. RewardsCards.com lists the Tribute Mastercard on its site and reports these fees as of 2010.

Considerations

The interest rate may be as much as 19.50 percent initially. The interest rate may rise as high as 31.75 percent if the card holder misses two payments.
