Atom Processor Vs. Celeron Processor
As an innovator of integrated circuit technology, Intel created some of the first microprocessors. The company still produces several lines of processors, including the Atom and Celeron.
-
Description
-
The Celeron is an entry level processor designed to run basic computer applications. Intel's Atom processor is optimized in size and performance for mobile devices.
Applications
-
The Celeron processor line includes versions suited for desktop and laptop computers, but it's not designed for use with smaller devices, such as smart phones or handhelds. There are variants of the Atom processor installed in entry level desktop devices but most Atom processors are used where space is very limited, such as tablet PCs or netbooks.

Features
-
The Celeron is available in single and dual-core models. Architectural enhancements allow it to access more memory than is usual for a 32-bit processor, similar to a 64-bit CPU. The smaller Atom runs cooler than other processors while consuming less power from battery operated devices.
