The Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician certification, or MCDST, focuses on honing an IT technician's skills to apply specifically to the support and education of Microsoft system users.

Requirements

In order to earn the MCDST, two exams need completion. The exams check knowledge on troubleshooting an XP system and troubleshooting applications that run on XP.

Experience

You need six to twelve months of technical support experience before earning certification. Generally, a person working in technical support will have already earned an associate degree.
