About Refurbished Mac Minis
The Mini is a no-frills Mac computer. It has no keyboard, no monitor, and no mouse. The Mac Mini is an option for someone who already owns a monitor, wants to choose his own peripherals or simply doesn't want an all-in-one desktop Mac like the iMac. Apple sells refurbished Minis through its Apple Store.

Availability
-
Availability of any refurbished Mac varies. Refurbished Macs are pre-owned units, tested, cleaned, given new serial numbers and repackaged. At times, Apple doesn't offer any refurbished Minis. You may have to delay your purchase and watch the Apple Store until it offers refurbished Minis.
Benefits
-
Refurbished Macs cost less, although the amount of the discount varies. They include all documentation and software that ships with a new model ships. Apple offers the same warranty on a certified refurbished Mini that it offers on a new, full-price Mini. You can also buy its Apple Care extended maintenance program for a refurbished Mini.

Considerations
-
Refurbished Minis don't arrive in an Apple retail box. Both new models and recent models are often available. If you buy a previous model, it won't have new features. In 2010, for example, Apple released new Minis with an HDMI port. Check the specs in the Apple Store before buying a refurbished Mini to be clear on which model you're buying and whether it has the features you want.
