Logitech G5 Vs. G7

Logitech G5 Vs. G7 thumbnail
The Logitech G5 and G7 series are high-precision computer mice.

The Logitech G5 and G7 mice were developed as high-precision gaming mice. These USB mice feature adjustable sensitivity and weight. They also use high dots-per-inch (DPI) lasers for smooth tracking.

  1. The Logitech G5

    • The G5 can be adjusted with up to 36 grams of weight. Sensitivity can be adjusted through two buttons on the mouse, allowing instant switching between 400, 800 and 2,000 DPI. The mouse is designed for a right-handed grip and features polytetrafluoroethylene feet, allowing for a low-friction feet glide, according to Logitech.

    The Logitech G7

    • The G7 features almost identical specifications to the G5, except that the G7 is a cordless mouse, whereas the G5 is wired. The G7 does not feature an adjustable weight, according to Tom's Hardware. The G7 uses a 2.4 GHz transmission with two included rechargeable batteries, as well as a USB charger.

    Wired or Wireless?

    • The choice between the G7 and G5 comes down to the decision between a wired or a cordless mouse. As both mice feature the same specifications, one mouse cannot be deemed better than the other, as it comes down to personal preference. Many gamers dislike cordless mice due to latency and the fear of losing power in the middle of a game. Corded mice can get tangled. Tom's Hardware states that the G7's 2.4 GHZ transmission "guarantees a perfect connection with no dropouts and no latency--ever." However, users afraid of delayed response time may prefer the dependability of a cord.
