The job of a house manager is to ensure that entertainment events run smoothly--from the ticket sales to the performance. This is a behind-the-scenes position that carries a great deal of responsibility.

    • House managers work in a variety of settings including theaters, stadiums and auditoriums. The house manager may have his own office in the facility.

    Responsibility

    • House managers oversee a number of department supervisors within the entertainment venue. Those departments include ticket sales, ushers, maintenance and payroll. The house manager also addresses special circumstances including reservations for the media and special guests.

    Qualifications

    • House manager candidates are considered qualified for the position if they hold a high school diploma and have at least two years of related experience. Potential house managers can also learn the varied aspects of the job through courses at community college or university.
