Jobs in Diversity Training

Job opportunities in diversity training have increased over the years due to changing demographics and increasing workplace diversity. Organizations need diversity trainers to help them make ethical employee selection decisions, resolve conflicts, improve communication and enhance productivity.

  1. Positions

    • Diversity trainers can work as independent consultants or be attached to an agency that specializes in diversity training. They can also work within an organization as an in-house expert or specialist. In some organizations, diversity training is just one function of staff working in human resources, affirmative action, equal employment or employee relations.

    Responsibilities

    • Like most trainers and consultants, diversity trainers consult with management and offer appropriate courses and workshops. They act as coaches to help individuals develop intercultural skills, and serve as facilitators for conflict resolution. Additionally, these employees help protect their company from lawsuits and assist organizations in preparing employees for international work.

    Opportunities

    • Progressive organizations value employee differences and have extensive diversity training. Often, training is also required when there is a crisis or to meet the requirements of a lawsuit settlement. Organizations that wish to establish a global presence use diversity training as part of their overall strategic plan.
