Adobe bricks are made from various types of soil, such as sand or clay, and water. Builders may mix in additional materials like straw or dried manure. Traditional New Mexico-size adobe bricks are 4 inches thick, 10 inches wide and 14 inches long and weigh roughly 30 pounds. When building a wall, a half-inch of adobe mortar separates each brick.
Creation
-
Workers make adobe bricks by mixing soil and water together. They take the mix to a drying area and pour it into brick forms, compacting the corners tightly and giving them shape. They leave the adobe bricks to dry for at least three days before turning them over to dry and harden for three to four more weeks.

Locations
-
Areas subject to excessive rain or water overflow do not make suitable locations for adobe bricks. Making them takes several weeks and the more rain that occurs; the longer it will take for the bricks to dry. Objects built with adobe bricks can fall apart if the bricks do not dry correctly or excessive water comes into contact with them.
