Trotter 525 Cybex Treadmill Information
The Trotter 525 treadmill has been discontinued by the Cybex fitness equipment company, but you can still occasionally find one of these well-built fitness machines offered for sale. Unfortunately, while it was considered a high-end treadmill, it was recalled twice before being taken off the market.

History
-
Edward Trotter, an engineer in Holliston, Massachusetts, built a treadmill in 1970 for his own health, and three years later founded Trotter Inc., makers of consumer treadmills. In 1997, Cybex International, a fitness equipment manufacturer in Medway, Massachusetts, merged with Trotter.
Features
-
In 1992, Trotter Inc. introduced its 10th generation of treadmills, the 500 series. The 525 was considered a workhorse, with a large screen, a wealth of options, and solid, comfortable overall operation. The retail price of a Trotter 525 in 1994 was $4200.

First Recall
-
In 2003, the Consumer Product Safety Commission announced that Cybex was recalling more than 33,000 treadmills because they were presenting a fire hazard caused by dust inside the treadmill's hood. The Trotter 525 was among the models recalled.
Second Recall
-
Four years after the first recall, Trotter 525 was again among treadmills that were recalled by Cybex because wire nuts were improperly installed during the first repairs. The recall applied to all units sold between 1993 and 2001.
Fun Fact
-
Although the Trotter 525 is ancient treadmill history, Cybex has continued to evolve and grow. In June 2010, the company announced it had reached a multiyear agreement to provide exercise equipment for "The Biggest Loser" television show.
