Why Is My Internet Browser Slow?
If web surfing is slow, several problems ranging from the Internet connection itself to the browser you are using may contain the source. Each browser has different default settings that affect its speed. You may not have your browser set for optimal performance.
-
Browser Configurations
-
Your browser configurations might not be set to maximize speed. The browser may have to refresh a page every time you go to it instead of using a copy of the page stored in your temporary Internet files. Some browsers do this automatically, but some will require you to adjust the settings. Downloading pictures also slows your browser significantly. The browser can be set not to download pictures. Browser add-ons such as toolbars can decrease performance.
Full Cache
-
Sometimes your temporary Internet files can become full. You may have too many cookies stored on your computer. If you do not delete your temporary files on a regular schedule, you may accumulate too many. A full cache may slow down your Internet browsing.

Slow Connection
-
While the browser may function slowly, the source of the problem may not be the browser itself. Your Internet connection could be slow. The speed of your connection is determined by the type of connection, the Internet Service Provider, and the area and conditions where you are receiving Internet. Interference in the network can also cause temporary problems in your web browsing speed.
