South Dakota Indian Reservation Hunting
South Dakota's many Indian reservations are home to thousands of acres ripe for hunting. However, South Dakota's hunting licenses and regulations do not apply on tribal lands and each tribe has its own hunting rules.

Time Frame
-
Each tribe has its own established season for each type of game. Also, many tribes have special seasons set aside for tribe members only.
Significance
-
If you wish to hunt on South Dakota tribal lands, apply for a license directly from the tribe itself. The rules vary from tribe to tribe and some require specific licenses for specific type of game.

Types
-
The wildlife available to hunt depends on where the reservation is located. The Cheyenne River Sioux reservation offers whitetail deer and pronghorn hunting while the Lower Brule Sioux tribe offers licenses for elk and pheasant, for example.
