What Is Ddr333 RAM?

What Is Ddr333 RAM? thumbnail
DDR333 is one of several versions of memory chips for computers.

Double data rate (DDR) random access memory (RAM) chips are a class of chips that provide double the processing speed of single data rate (SDR) memory chips. DDR333 is a subtype of DDR chips.

  1. DDR Chips

    • Computers traditionally process data at a set rhythm--its "clock speed." Single data rate chips only moved memory around at that drumbeat. DDR chips, by contrast, are also active on the offbeat, which provides double the memory speed.

    DDR333

    • The 333 suffix on DDR333 refers to its data transfer rate, in millions of transfers per second. So, a DDR333 chip can perform 333 "megatransfers" per second.

    Supersessions

    • Newer DDR technologies DDR2 and DDR3 have superseded DDR. While the fastest transfer rate for DDR is 400 megatransfers per second, DDR2 chips can reach 1,066 while DDR3 chips can perform up to 1,600. You may not mix chips from the three generations to provide memory on the same machine.
