Korean Copyright Law
Copyright laws in Korea are designed to protect the creative work of authors, artists and other creators, such as software programmers. In 2004, the copyright laws were modified to make it a criminal offense for anyone to remove or alter any copyright-protected electronic works.

Protected Works
-
The Korean copyright law protects the rights of authors. It covers literary work, musical work, visual art and computer programs.
Not Protected
-
Korean copyright law does not protect directions, court rulings, laws, rules or notifications. It also does not protect news reports that share simple facts.
-
Protection Period
-
Author's rights are protected for the life of the author and for fifty years after the author's death. If there are joint authors, the copyright will exist until 50 years after the death of the longest living author. Copyright is automatically in effect in Korea once a work has been created.
