In manufacturing and warehousing, HR staff may be responsible for compliance with OSHA training standards.

Human resource managers are responsible for a wide range of training programs within an organization. These often include orientation, training newly hired employees, safety training and employee development.

  1. Orientation

    • Human resource managers conduct orientations for new employees. This basic training typically covers the company's rules and regulations, basic job duties and explanation of pay and benefits and defines the complaince process.

    On-the-Job Training

    • Human resource managers may be responsible for organizing on-the-job training for newly hired employees. In some companies the human resource staff will personally train new employees; in others they may be responsible for arranging and following up on training through the new employees' departments or another department in the company.

    Safety Training

    • The Occupational Safety and Health Administration requires that employers maintain industry-specific guidelines to ensure the welfare of the workforce. The human resource department typically provides the necessary training for employees and is responsible for tracking OSHA compliance.

    Advancement Training

    • Many companies use performance reviews to determine top performers. These employees are typically trained by the human resource department to fine tune their skills and leadership abilities so that they are ready to be promoted into management roles when the opportunity arises.
