Keep track of your floss brands and numbers in case you need to buy more.

Both Anchor and DMC flosses come in hundreds of colors and floss types. Anchor floss, made by Coats and Clark, and DMC floss are used for various needlecraft and embroidery projects. You can use one product exclusively or use both of them together on a variety of projects.

  1. Charts

    • Conversion charts are available from a variety of sources, including your local craft store and websites like Yarn Tree. They provide an Anchor floss number and a corresponding DMC floss number. Check the packaging for the brand and the floss number you currently have.

    Changing Brands

    • When you are changing from one brand to another, especially if you have already started your project, be sure to take some of the old floss with you. Color batches, even within the same company, can vary. You will need a sample to get the best match possible.

    Reasons

    • Being able to change from one brand to another allows you to take advantage of floss sales. It also is helpful if your local store sells only one brand.
