Pigeon Control in North Carolina
Pigeons are disease-carrying birds that can damage buildings and landscaping with their droppings. In North Carolina, there are a number of options for removing pigeons and preventing their return. Does this Spark an idea?

Pigeon Hazards
-
North Carolina is home to rock pigeons, passenger pigeons and band-tailed pigeons. Pigeon droppings are highly corrosive, can damage metal and stone buildings and create a displeasing appearance wherever they are present. Pigeon droppings and feathers can become trapped in vents and gutters, and dead pigeons can create odor and health problems wherever they are found. In addition, pigeons carry serious diseases such as cryptococcosis, salmonella and toxoplasmosis, which are all potentially life-threatening illnesses if left untreated.
Pigeon Removal
-
Once pigeons have infested a building or property, they are difficult to remove. Removal may involve setting traps for individual pigeons, creating chemical and physical barriers to prevent pigeons from returning to their nesting sites and removing food sources to eliminate incentives for pigeons to remain. Local animal control bureaus, such as Wake County Animal Control and pest removal companies, may be able to remove pigeon populations as well. Find a local pest removal company with a North Carolina pest control directory.

Warning
-
Poisoning is an effective means to remove pigeons, but it leaves bird carcasses that must be removed, and it requires special licensing and procedures to prevent the accidental poisoning of people and pets. Shooting pigeons can make it harder to trap remaining pigeons, and it may be illegal if the pigeon infestation is within city limits.
