White Wing Dove Hunting in SE Texas

White-wing dove season in southeast Texas occurs in fall and winter.

In southeast Texas, white-wing dove hunting is regulated by the South Dove Hunting Zone and the Special White-Winged Dove Area, two of four statewide dove-hunting areas designated by Texas Department of Parks and Wildlife.

South Zone Regulations

The white-wing dove hunting season in the South Zone, which includes the areas of IH35 east to the southeast Texas coast, runs from September 17 through October 31 and from December 25 through January 18. White-wing doves are limited to 15 per day, per hunter and each hunter may retain 30 per season.

Special White-Winged Dove Area Regulations

Areas in southeast Texas to the west of IH35 reside in the Special White-Winged Dove Area, which is only open for white-winged dove hunting on September 4th, 5th, 11th and 12th. During these four days, only 15 white-winged doves may be retained per day, including no more than four mourning doves and two white-tipped doves. The total possession limit for all four days is 30, of which only eight may be mourning and four may be white-tipped.

Hunting Licenses and Stamps

All white-wing dove hunters in Southeast Texas must obtain a hunter's license, which can be purchased online at the Texas Department of Parks and Wildlife.
