Deer Hunting in Sunday Creek, Ohio

Deer hunting is permitted with a free permit in the Sunday Creek area of Ohio.

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources says deer hunting is permitted in the Wallace H. O'Dowd Wildlife Area. The area is in Athens and Hocking counties, Ohio, and owned by the Sunday Creek Coal Company.

Permits and Licenses

Sunday Creek deer-hunting permits are free and available at the Sunday Creek Coal Company location or at the Athens County Division of Wildlife office. Deer hunters must also have a hunter's license and an anter-less or antlered deer permit to hunt in the area. These are all available at the Ohio Department of Natural Resources website.

Seasons

Located in Athens and Hocking Counties, the Sunday Creek area of O'Dowd Wilderness Area is part of Ohio's Zone C, one of three zones in the state that regulate deer season and possession limits. The Zone C deer hunting season in Athens and Hocking County runs from September 25 through February 6 for antlered deer, and from September 25 through December 5 for antler-less deer, as of the 2010 and 2011 season.

Possession Limits

During both the antlered and the antler-less seasons hunters may retain a maximum of three deer per hunter, per season, but only if the Sunday Creek hunter is hunting for the respective deer with corresponding permits. Over both seasons a hunter may retain a total of six deer.
