Business reply mailers (BRM) are First-Class Mail pieces that are paid for by the original mailer (the company), not the re-sender (the customer). BRMs are a cost-effective way to collect customer opinions and responses.

In order to send business reply cards, your company must purchase an annual permit. A basic permit costs $185 and a high-volume permit (recommended for 891 returned cards or more) costs $770 annually, which includes the annual permit and an annual account maintenance fee.

To qualify for the lowest-possible mailing costs, BRMs must be between 3.5 inches by 5 inches and 4.25 inches by 6 inches. Additionally, cards must be between 0.007 and 0.016 inches thick.

The phrase "BUSINESS REPLY MAIL" must be included on the card above the address and must be directly above the words "FIRST-CLASS MAIL" and the mailing permit number. Also, a box containing the words "NO POSTAGE NECESSARY IF MAILED IN THE UNITED STATES" must be included in the top-right corner of the business reply card.
Customization

Your company is permitted to include its logo in the address section as long as it is not placed within 5/8 inches of the bottom of the card and does not obscure the barcode area of the mailer.
