The Dixieland Jazz Festival is a five-day festival of classic jazz held on Thanksgiving weekend in San Diego, California. The festival, which celebrates 31 years in 2010, draws crowds from around the world.

    • The Dixieland Jazz Festival advertises itself as "the crown jewel of jazz festivals." For 2010, the festival dates are November 24 through 28. The music begins on Wednesday evening and concludes on Sunday evening.

    • Festival attendees enjoy a music selection of vintage sounds that includes classic ragtime, New Orleans jazz, Chicago jazz, San Francisco jazz, Dixieland jazz and swing. The 2010 festival lineup includes performers such as High Sierra Jazz Band, Anita Thomas's Festival Feetwarmers, Billy Mata and the Texas Tradition, Tom Rigney and Flambeau, Night Blooming Jazzmen, Carl Sonny Leyland and Chloe Feoranzo, The Dixieland Jazz Festival website lists all the scheduled performers.

    Location

    • The festival is held at the Town & Country Resort and Convention Center. The seven performance sites there range from large concert rooms with dance floors to small "listening" rooms. All of the venues are nonsmoking, in accordance with California law.
