A program analysis manager reviews a company's operating systems and manufacturing processes and provides recommendations for improvement. The manager also uses analytical tools to gauge process efficiency and operating performance.

  1. Duties

    • A program analysis manager converts a client's business requirements into functional specifications, manages requests for changes in operating systems and reviews program efficiency and quality performance on a regular basis. The manager also modifies programs or systems to improve work flows.

    Aptitude and Tools

    • A successful program analysis manager generally has an analytical penchant, computer programming aptitude and good communication skills, according to the Department of Labor's O*NET Online. An apt and proficient program analysis manager often uses mainframe computers, configuration management software and development environment software, such as Advanced Business Application Programming, or ABAP.

    Academic Requirements and Salary

    • A four-year college degree in computer science, information technology management or a related discipline is generally necessary for a program analysis manager position. However, employers prefer candidates who have a master's degree for senior roles. The average yearly salary for program analysis managers was $80,000 as of 2010, according to Indeed.com.
