Photoshop software is made by Adobe.

Adobe's Photoshop graphics software is the brainchild of brothers Thomas and John Knoll. The popular software was first released in 1990 and has gone through several upgraded versions since then. In 2000, Photoshop 6.0 was released as the software's eighth version since its initial release.

  1. Layers

    • Photoshop 6.0 made working with graphic layers easier with the introduction of the layers panel interface. Multi-layer functionality was also introduced with Photoshop 6.0, enabling users to work with graphics on several layers.

    Shapes and Text

    • With Photoshop 6.0 came the ability to draw vectored shapes instead of drawing only lines. For the first time, users could type text directly onto an image without having to type the text into a separate text box first.

    Requirements

    • Photoshop 6.0 required at least 125 megabytes of disk space, a CD-ROM drive, and a minimum of 64 megabytes of RAM. The software came in two versions, one compatible with the Windows operating system and Intel's Pentium processor and the other compatible with the Mac OS operating system and the G3 processor. As of 2010, Photoshop 6.0 is no longer manufactured.
