Quality analysts evaluate defects to develop quality strategies for an organization.

The quality management analyst develops and implements the quality strategy in an organization. The analyst uses data from inspections and tests to determine the root cause of defects to develop systems to ensure that products meet quality specifications.

  1. Job Duties

    • Quality analysts develop procedures for the quality control or quality assurance department of an organization. The analyst monitors procedures and policies to find areas of improvement. He creates reports for upper management that detail improvements in the system or areas of weakness.

    Education

    • Employers generally require a bachelor's degree in engineering, quality control or quality assurance for the position of a quality management analyst. A quality management analyst should have experience in a quality assurance role. The employer may require experience in the organization for a position as a quality analyst.

    Skills

    • Quality management analysts are analytical and have problem-solving skills, which help identify quality problems and areas that require improvement. The analyst must have good written and verbal communication skills to relate technical information to non-technical employees. Computer skills and experience with quality control tools such as inspection and testing techniques are necessary for the position.

    Salary

    • The average salary for a quality analyst is $73,000 as of July 2010, according to Indeed.com. The quality management analyst's salary depends on the industry and geographic location of the business. Experience and education play a large part in the salary an analyst can earn.
