Manual iPod Recovery

Each time you sync your iPod in iTunes, a backup file of your iPod is created. To perform a manual iPod recovery, you'll need to locate your most recent backup file in iTunes and restore it.

Open iTunes

Plug your iPod into your computer. Open iTunes if it doesn't automatically launch. Right-click or Control-click the name of your iPod in the left sidebar.

Locate Backup File

Select "Restore from Backup" from the menu. A window will appear with a list of the most recent iPod backup files.

Recover Data

Choose the backup file you want to recover and select "Restore." ITunes will re-install the data from your backup file onto your iPod.
